Wild City by Meredith Elton

Wild City acknowledges the people of the Yugambeh language region, the traditional owners of the land on which we meet, and pays respect to their elders past, present and emerging.

Wild City is a performance art project that invites you to engage creatively with wild nature (inside and out) within our daily urban lives. Presented by the City of Gold Coast and The Moving Place in association with Bleach* Festival.

Wild City is a collaborative and community engaged enquiry into 'wild' and 'city' and the space in-between. The workshops began with an inspiring three day Earth Arts Incubator gathering of eight artists sharing site/place/ecologically engaged creative practice on the GC.

The Wild City Workshops are an invitation from Meredith Elton and sound, installation and movement collaborators, to engage in a series of creative outdoor workshops at different sites and times across the City of Gold Coast.

How is wild nature present amongst the bitumen and busyness of city living? How might our lives and cities be transformed through a deeper listening to the wildness that surrounds and grounds us?  How does the relationship between body and earth open new possibilities for connecting to and collaborating with nature/place? And for engaging more deeply our responsibility and care for the places we live?  How can "connecting to nature" support "caring for Country"?
